Veterans and out of uniform active duty can now render the military salute for the Flag of The United States. These changes actually date back to 2008 and 2009, but I was never aware of them until my son, Alek, mentioned it while my mother and I were visiting him at West Point last month. I finally remembered to look it up today and found:

It was definitely cool to have three generations of our family saluting Old Glory together.
