An old photo of my best friend. She has gotten even worse since just Sunday and the vet is driving to my parents house to put her down. Doubt I can get there because of the crummy roads. Sasha "Squeekers" 6/99-12/13
Sorry man, I know I am not looking forward to that day with my pups. Just remember the good stuff.
Just glad God put the fuzzball in my life. I put her at her knew home in the yard a little while ago. Yes she was that old. 14.5years
I just recently did the same a couple months ago Gilby. Never fun, but my Shyla was an old girl too. She was in pain, and her body was not working well any longer, so it was time. But it sure wasn't easy.
I've had to say goodbye to a handful over the years and it never gets easier, but it also never deters me from sharing my life with them.
Thanks for saying that John(I truly mean it). Right now I just feel like I could never have another dog. (RR life doesn't even enable that) but like I said I just feel like I could not have another dog. Sasha was really one of a kind, sad there will never be another one like her
Funny thing is buddy, they're all one of a kind. Each one is unique and will occupy a special place in your heart. In the past several years we've had to put down 2 awesome cats and a very special dog, and I cried over every one of them. We have a 16 year old cat and she's also pretty dang awesome, and another dog who is now 12. We know we will have to say goodbye to both of them sooner than later as well. That didn't stop us from rescuing another cat and giving her a chance at a better life full of love and care. If the railroad life makes having a pet not feasible, that's one thing, but don't let losing a great friend stop you from finding another.
Hang in there man. Grief is completely understandable. I am looking at my 5 year old and we have a lab I know now that they both are growing and about the time my daughter is hitting 16 the dog will pass away or sometime close to that. I am sure she will be broken up but that is part of life and all the good times they have from now till that time are worth the pain she will face in the future. Also it is about learning we are mortal and all things come to an end.
