I should be getting a call from Kroger to start today or
tomorrow(more likely). And I'm for certain making sure dsl gets set up
here. What is the minimum level of dsl I should see is put in. I just
want fluid play, a hiccup once in a blue moon is fine.
STILL trying to get on at a RR but they take forever in hiring process.
3Mb/s is probably a low target. If you can get 6Mb/s or above you should be fine on any game. Graphics aren't transmitted across the network, only raw data that your computer then renders at 20~60 times per second. Lag usually occurs on either the Server, or your local computer. As long as the network speed is what I listed above then it's usually not the culprit.
If your computer can handle rendering the game without choking then 6Mb/s should work well.
It's quite silly. I'm stuck at my parents right now, and for 10 bucks more a month they could get the lowest grade dsl at 756(?)kbs. I've hinted before but it's their house. Maybe my birthday coming up will hold sway I'm only at the point of getting a lowgrade job at Kroger at this point. As soon as they get the drugtest results back and tell me to come in I'm paying for dsl myself if they won't. What sucks is I have a viable Bachelors in Economics but everyone wants insane amounts of experience right now. I'm trying to get a job in railroad right now, pretty much anywhere even....New York, bleh.
The group I was going to play swtor with said basically any dsl is fine just that an bog would be from my computer but that's not a problem.
I really don't think anything under 1.5 Mb/s is worth extra money. You'll get an improvement over dial-up, but it will still have frustrations. Less than dial-up, but when you start paying for it you want it to run smooth.
I kinda feel the same way but ANY dsl is beyond colossal difference here. I have to go to the library just to submit applications online. Besides, anything above the lowest level wants 5 year commitment. My mother made some comments to me suggestion they don't intend to be here that long...My dad is 73(dialysis, diabetes, and heart issues) and my mom is 65
Way back when Josh still lived at home, we both used to play WoW on the 768 Up - 3.0 Down. It is not ideal but it was reliable.
SWTOR is good because most of the game world is on your computer so it is very little data you are transmitting back and forth. You would not want to pvp and you will get fussed at in some raids, but most pve would be fine.
