Ivan and I decided to try out this game since LOTRO had slowed down a bit and we wanted to try something new rather than going back to WoW. Has anyone played this game yet? We are so far very pleasantly surprised. It's going FTP next month but you can get the game for free + 30 days free playtime before then through Raptr. They offer both PvP and PvE servers but like most you can still PvP on PvE. Saw this on the forums:

"raptr.com is a app that tracks your time played in games and rewards you for playing.
lotro
is on raptr but turbine have no freebies atm ..BUT.. Rift does if you
download the free rift trial and put in 13 hrs of game time raptr
rewards you with pets cosmetic armours and best of all the entire rift
game plus storm legion expansion pack and a free 1 month subscription
pretty good huh.Rift is going f2p on july 12 but by doing this you
unlock all the inventory bags all charecter slots and you will get a
whole heap of rewards once f2p launches because you are a owner of the
game and have had a previous sub all for free."

I just hit "experienced" through Raptr day before yesterday and got the full game. I was curious if anyone is playing it and what their thoughts were on what the game is like at higher levels and end game.

Me and Tater played it for almost a year. I maxed out two characters, then peer pressure from "the family" brought me back into WoW. My at home family, not FWH family. 🙂

I enjoyed it, and it was diverse enough to keep me interested for a year. We didn't have a huge FWH presence, and frankly I forget who the GM is. It may be me, it might be Mal, but I've slept since then. It got to be where I was the only one logging in on a daily basis, and that's what tipped me out.

It reminds me of WoW but more complicated with better graphics. lol I feel like such a noob. Seems like there's so many choices on specs and everything. We're on the Deepwood server (PvE) and have our own little two person guild (with alts) like we usually do. Still trying to figure everything out. We made a couple pyro mages and have been having a blast (literally). We haven't even reached level 20 yet, though. Not sure how easy it is to make money. Just been doing every quest, looting everything, and finding dailies. Doesn't seem too bad.

I downloaded the raptr app last week and just left it parked on the login screen. You get the time out popup but as long as you don't click ok you can just afk and it counts as far as raptr knows.

I was already previous subscriber so i did not get the 30 days for free. But i did go ahead and do it so i had the expansion and the extra souls that will provide.

I had 3 days for updating my security options so i logged in briefly before it expired.

The server we were on and subsequently that the guild bank is on is no longer an active server. You can log in and get stuff from your mail and auction house. But you will then have to transfer to an active server.

No idea who the guild leader was there and i didnt look before my 3 days ran out. Whoever it is there is a small amount of coin and 2 or 3 tabs of items there in the guild bank. So if a few of you are going to become active again we might want to clean out the guild bank and start the guild again on whatever new server so when you transfer the character you can move some of the stuff.

No idea if guild leader could just move and the guild bank would move with him/her. Might be something to look into.

Gah, Hell i might be, getting old memory is second thing to go.

Thank god if i remembered the first thing often i would cry more.

Not sure if i passed it to someone else when i quit playing or if it was dead by then.

June 12th when it goes ftp i will get logged back in and get it figured out.

If we fire up a guild on a new server in the mean time i will just make a couple lowbies and load them up with everything currently in the guildbank and move it over soon as i can actually get in to play.

He was the first, and then passed it on to me. I came to a point where I had to stop playing for a while, and had every intention of returning to the game, but wasn't able to. Dubl was generous enough to take the reins during that time, so he was effectively the last GM. I don't remember if we made his character the actual GM (I hope we did), but if so he would be the one with the ability to deal with the bank. If we didn't actually make his toon the GM, then mine would be the one to deal with all of that.

Hey, Beleg. Haven't seen you log in much on lotro lately. Hope it's just RL keeping you busy in a positive way. Or another game. You know we worry when our resident hard core gamer isn't tearing up the place. :p

Finally figured out in Rift that if I click the button at the bottom of the soul tree when first logging in I can pick from all the trees for that class. Der... So me and Ivan are goofing off on druids now, too. lol It's been a long time since I started an MMO from scratch. Getting rusty at it.

BTW, Rift says: "Do you own RIFT & can't wait for June 12 when we go Free-to-Play?

Hunger no more my Ascended friends - Return to Telara for 5 FULL DAYS to prepare yourself for the adventures ahead!

Starting Thursday, May 30 - Monday, June 3rd you'll have access to everything, exactly where you left it.

Re-install the client today and be ready for a whole weekend of RIFT: www.riftgame.com/free

Welcome back!"

So if you already own it you can hop in for a few days free (starting today). "This
is a preview event to let our veteran players return and make any
preparations they need for the release of RIFT 2.3 & Free-to-Play!"

Just really having trouble finding desire to log into Lotro.

Turbine just doesn't seem to understand their own game, Has to be the only title i have ever played where the staff doesn't actually play and understand the game.

It has become the policy to cover lack of content with asinine grinding.

This latest expansion requires you to do every single quest in the new area to unlock repeatable daily quests for a second faction that is required for the new gear.

You will then need to do 5 repeatable quests every day for 34 days to reach the faction necessary to use this new gear, All of which is in many instances at best a side-grade and in many a downgrade because they don't understand how their own stats work and which are desirable.

The whole approach seems to be if you see an area that is used a lot, or a stat or build that is predominant then rather than see what is wrong with other stats, areas or skills that keep them from being used as much and fixing it. Simply ruin the most used stat, skill and area until they are all trash and it simply doesn't matter what you use or do.

They have transferred all the skilled programmers and staff that have any idea what they are doing to other projects, handed basic tools to customer support people and started calling them developers and having them design content for the game(which most of them don't even play).

Really just getting sick of being kicked and outright lied to over and over by turbine. They keep taking basic things away that we have had 6+ years, calling it an improvement, then selling them back to us in the store.

Main reason i left WoW was I was not happy with the way certain things were being handled and i refuse to pay to be unhappy.

Only thing that has kept me in LOTRO is the shift to FTP combined with my lifetime subscription means i actually have not payed for new content in almost 3.5 years.

I still log in and play due to the social aspects, have lots of friends there and several of us are actually playing Neverwinter at the moment.

Think a few of us will try Rift again when it goes FTP, and i am going to stick around LOTRO till the next expansion in the fall to see what the revamp to classes will bring.

So i am around if you need something just send me a message on the board and will arrange to meet you in game.

In the mean time i am just lurking and playing a bit of this and a bit of that.

I got a bit burned out in LOTRO, myself. Didn't even finish the new area. Love mounted combat and Rohan really did a lot to revive the game for me, but the new area isn't as MC friendly and the content does feel like another grind. Had enough of that with Hytbold. I found warbands to be a lot of fun but the rewards kinda suck. Meh.. Decided I would give the game a rest. We'll most likely still log in now and then and will go back for sure for Helm's Deep.

We haven't played WoW since before MoP went live. Will probably go back at some point just to see all the changes and new stuff. It's the only game that catered to my love of soloing old dungeons for fun, money, mounts, pets, etc so far.

Rift is the first new game (new to me) that I've really started getting into. Now if I could just decide on a main class and spec I'd be set. lol They all seem like fun. Ivan tends to pick one right off the bat and run with it all the way to max level. He tends to migrate towards tank types. Me, I'm the altoholic who just has to test them out for a bit before I decide. I tend to migrate toward pet classes and mage/healers. Since he likes tanks I usually try to find one that has at least some heals.

Okay, so here's the deal... I had the Rift Authenticator installed on my old phone, which won't even start up any longer. I can't log into the Trion site without it, because even though I know my account info, it asks for the authenticator code. I go to the Trion support site to have that authenticator removed so I can install it on my new phone, and the options are to either get in chat (wait time is currently around 30+ minutes for the live chat), or to fill out a support form. In order to fill out the form, I need to log in, which again of course asks for the authenticator code. So in order to fix the problem I have with logging in, I have to log in... ridiculous.

I'll let you know when I've been able to fix this and get a working authenticator, and am able to login to the site. I will still need to download and install the game once I've taken care of this problem.

Okay, so I waited in the live chat queue for about an hour this morning, and finally did get the authenticator issue resolved. I'm installing the client at home as we speak. I didn't install in the default location, so hopefully the Raptr client recognizes it. Once I can log in (might not be tonight, as I'm sure my wife and son have plans for tonight), I'll post here if my toon is still officially the GM or if Dubl's is the GM.
