Ever wish all the loose ends of the first Star Trek tv show were tied up. Well so did this guy and he finished out the show. He even looks like TOS Kirk if he turns his head the right way.
Anyway it is neat to watch.

Okay, watched the first one last night. I love that they filmed it in almost exactly the same style as the original. However, I have a few issues with the casting, and the Kirk character in particular. Maybe I'll be able to get past them if I keep watching, but we'll have to see.

Grant Imahara is just not right for Sulu. Doesn't have the chops for it. Not sure about the guy playing Spock yet either. I do like that they got Christopher Doohan, the son of the original Scotty, James Doohan to play the Scotty character. He pulls it off well.

The guy playing Kirk (Vic Mignogna) is absolutely not right (IMO), even though he does a good job of playing the character. Now, I know Shatner's Kirk had a serious strut, was confident in the extreme, etc. but this guy has more of a sashay when he walks, and less of a strut. Also his voice is very high, so he comes off as more of an effeminate James T. Kirk to me. Maybe a famous Kirk-style fight scene will change my mind, but there wasn't one in that first episode.

I can get by with any of the other characters so far... just gotta get by these ones. We'll see how it progresses. Overall, I did enjoy the first episode, especially the way they tied it immediately into the original series. Very cool.

Oh, one other character flaw... Bones' character is also definitely not right. I couldn't even perceive him as being Bones. I don't just mean his appearance, but also the character of Bones. He wasn't even close.

Vol I totally agree with your assessment of the guy playing Kirk and the one playing Bones...I don't know if I can get past that 🙁 If his voice was just a bit deeper it might be ok.

The one playing bones is too bleeding heart for me.
